INSPIRATIONAL PLACES || RAK STUDIOS (LDN)

03 Oct 2020

In November we were lucky enough to do a small shoot at the incredible RAK Studios with one of our favs Izzy from Black Honey and megababe Eli Beristain on film.

Based in St Johns Wood the studio is steeped in history and has played host to some of the best-loved names in music including David Bowie, Al Green, Elton John, Michael Jackson, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Cure, The Jam and Radiohead.

More recently – Adele, Alicia Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Sam Smith, Royal Blood, The Pixies, Disclosure, The XX, Savages and Michael Kiwanuka have graced its studios. A vintage C12 microphone and drum kits from the 1960’s used to record by legendary artists all offer inspiration for new bands that walk-through RAK’s doors.

The studio itself was founded in 1976 by the legendary record producer Mickie Most, who was known for his hits with the Animals, Jeff Beck, Donovan, Suzi Quatro and Kim Wilde, among others. He converted an old Victorian schoolhouse in London’s St John’s Wood to what has become one of the UK’s most iconic recording complexes housing 4 unique studios.

The majority of the RAK catalogue which was produced by Mickie was recorded in Studio 2 as it was his personal studio of choice, and this was where we were lucky enough to take these shots with Izzy wearing our new Stargazer collection.
Getting the chance to spend some time in RAK where the icons who inspired the collection (Bowie & Elton John) have recorded was a truly magical experience!
A huge thank you to Andy at RAK for making it happen and to Eli for perfectly capturing one of UK music’s future icons, Izzy (Black Honey) in such an incredible location.
