We’ve always seen it as our responsibility to reject the fickle trends of fast fashion and, instead, bring you responsibly crafted pieces that will stand the test of time. Like your favourite vintage heirlooms, but better.
We’ll be honest, though. It’s a constant learning process. We’re always striving to do better as a brand, so we promise to be transparent about the production of our pieces – from start to finish.
Our relaunch in 2025 was the perfect opportunity to assess our environmental impact and make changes for the better. Out with the old, in with the bold, right?

From daydream to pride of place in your - here’s how the design magic happens.

Dreaming and Moodboarding
Every capsule begins with a spark of inspiration – it could be an iconic 70s silhouette, a discovery from our vintage archive or even a feeling. A moodboard brings the vision to life, and we dream up a name that captures the spirit of the collection.

Curating the Lineup
With the vision established, we begin to map out a lineup of styles, prints and fabrications that can be styled together effortlessly. Whether it's elevated daywear or bold going-out looks, each piece tells its own story – but sings in harmony with the rest.

Prints, Prints, Prints
Our sketches are transformed into detailed CAD drawings, allowing us to visualise every element with precision – from embroidery to buttons. Our print designer, Erin, then works her magic, developing exclusive prints inspired by our moodboard and references.

Final Checks
After adjustments, we receive a second sample and give everything a final once-over. Measurements are triple checked, sizes are graded (the process of creating multiple sizes based on our sample), and once we're 100% happy – we place our order.

First Glimpse
The fun really begins when the first samples arrive! We fit each piece, test the fabrics, and refine the design until everything feels perfect and up to our quality standards – right down to the wash and feel.

Fit Check
Next, we collaborate with our garment technologist to create tech packs for our manufacturer– these documents contain everything needed to turn our designs into finished pieces. It’s also time to select our fabrics, trims and finishes. We always consider wearability, longevity and comfort.

Production Begins
Production typically takes 60-90 days. We work closely with our trusted makers in India, China and Turkey, who ensure that each piece is crafted with care and love – and meets The Hippie Shake’s high standards.

Ready to launch
Once everything’s made, it’s shipped to our warehouse, lovingly packed by our team and sent off to you – ready to be worn and treasured for years to come.

Plastic
We’ve said goodbye to plastic for good – because packaging shouldn't end up ina landfill. Our paper mailing bags are made from a sustainable water-repellantbrown kraft paper and are FSC® certifed. Our reusable clothing bags are madefrom cornstarch, so they’re biodegradable and compostable.

Natural Fibres
The goal is to use as many natural fabrics as possible in our clothing. We’re proud to say that 75% of our permanent collection, Heroes, is made from natural fibres. We’ll keep you in the loop as we keep pushing that number higher.
