The Inspiration
On one of our trips to India, we met a man in Pushkar selling vintage Indian and Bollywood pieces from a small corner shop. The kind of pieces you don’t usually come across, with craftsmanship that feels almost museum-worthy.
He invited us back to his home, where we sat with his family, drinking chai and looking through an archive of garments he’d collected from nearby towns. Among them was a vintage Bollywood top with a hand-embroidered chest, mirror work and wide bell sleeves.
That piece stayed with me. It felt special in a way that’s hard to explain, something you keep coming back to, and I knew it was something I wanted to bring into the collection in our own way.

Bringing the Vision to Life
This design has been in development for a long time, working closely with our Indian makers to get the technique right. The embroidery, the mirror work, the balance of it all, it had to feel authentic to the original inspiration while still working as a piece you can wear now.

This dream top brings a piece of royal history straight to your wardrobe through the breathtaking art of Zardozi.
Originating in ancient Persia and perfected over centuries in India, Zardozi which literally translating to 'gold sewing' is an elaborate metal-thread embroidery traditionally reserved for royalty.
To bring this vision to life, we partnered with our skilled Indian suppliers, whose master artisans meticulously hand-weave metallic threads, coiled wires, and delicate embellishments onto the fabric. Because this intricate technique is executed entirely by hand, each individual top requires an astonishing 14 to 15 hours of focused, expert craftsmanship just to complete the front panel. The result is more than just a garment; it is a wearable piece of art, rich in texture, weight, and timeless heritage.
Made to Be Treasured
The finished piece feels rich and detailed, with the front almost resembling abstract suns and waves in warm orange and gold tones.
It’s one of those designs that carries a memory with it. A reminder of those streets in Pushkar, full of colour, incense and movement, and of the people and craftsmanship behind it.
