There are some designs we simply can't leave behind, and our Dream Away Black Embroidered Velvet Duster is one of them. Originally created in teal for our Jimi Hendrix-inspired Rainbow Ladyland collection, we wanted to bring it back in rich black velvet to give Erin's beautiful embroidery another moment to shine. Intricate golden florals, curling vines and little embroidered hearts cascade across the front, sleeves and back, creating a piece that feels like something treasured from an early-seventies wardrobe. Made from our much-loved crushed viscose velvet, a fabric we first found in Delhi, it catches the light beautifully with every movement. Wide flowing sleeves, delicate black trims and a matching tie belt complete the design, with a soft cotton lining for comfort.
Part velvet robe, part statement layering piece, this is one we'd love to see worn in all sorts of ways. Picture it over a black silk slip dress with towering platforms and layers of gold jewellery for a night out, or thrown over denim and a favourite blouse for a festival. There's something wonderfully decadent about wearing it at home too, whether you're getting ready for an evening out or simply enjoying a little seventies luxury.
