Gold embroidery takes centre stage on our Black Sun Velvet Embroidered Mini Dress, with an ornate sunburst design sweeping across the chest and beautiful matching details at the cuffs. Inspired by a vintage piece from our own archive, we worked closely with one of our Indian suppliers to develop the intricate gold zari embroidery, creating something that feels almost regal in its detailing. The crushed viscose velvet is a fabric we first fell in love with in Delhi, with a beautiful texture that catches the light and gives the gold thread even more richness. Delicate beading around the neckline, a small stand collar and dramatic flared sleeves complete the design. Cut to gently skim the waist with room through the hips, it's finished with a metal back zip.
There's something wonderfully reminiscent of Anita Pallenberg at a Rolling Stones party in 1969 about this piece. Think knee-high leather boots, oversized gold rings and a shaggy Afghan coat thrown over the shoulders. We also love the idea of wearing it as a tunic over printed flares with a wide belt, bringing a completely different character to all that beautiful velvet and gold embroidery.
