The embroidery on our Vagabond Red Embroidered Penny Lane Coat started life on the Vagabond Mini Dress, and we loved Erin’s artwork so much that we knew it deserved to become something bigger. Reworked across a deep red velvet coat, the climbing floral vines and intricate back motif take on a completely different character.
There’s something very grounded about this one. The embroidery sits in warm, tonal shades against the rich cotton velvet, with tan shaggy faux fur framing the shape. It has all the drama you want from a Penny Lane coat, but the earthy palette makes it incredibly easy to wear.
Go all in and pair it with the Vagabond Mini Dress, or let it become the statement over old denim, boots and a Storyteller blouse. We can picture it thrown over long folk dresses too, the kind of coat that makes whatever you already own feel a little more special.
The new cotton velvet has a beautifully plush, authentic feel and is lined in cotton. It’s the sort of fabric we think will only look better once it’s been worn, travelled in and collected a few stories of its own. Very early ’70s folk rock, with a little Ali MacGraw in Laurel Canyon.
